Are you able to help us maintain the tradition of the Sheriff’s Ride?
We are a group of volunteers and would welcome any help to keep this Lichfield tradition alive. Please fill in the form if you are able to assist.
There are various activities we need help with. Take a look below - are there any times you are available?
Friday 8th September
Set up Stowe Fields (posts + tape to mark out horsebox parking)
Setup Freeford
Preparation of the Route
Putting up signs around the course
Saturday 9th September
9:30 The ceremonial start to the ride in the City Centre (stewarding 6 horses through to the City Centre) and the beginning of the Cycle Ride
9:30-12 Stewarding Cycle riders round the north of the City
10:00 - 17:00 Managing the Stow Fields site
12:00-13:30 Managing the Freeford Manor Site
12:30 The start of the Equestrian Ride (from Freeford Manor)
12:45-13:00 Help needed - Riders have to dismount to go through a tunnel under the A38. They will then need help mounting. Someone needed to transport several mounting blocks over to the tunnel.
12:45 - 14:00 Extra help in Lichfield (Stowe Fields site) showing the drivers of the horseboxes which have come from Freeford where to park.
14:15 approx to 15:00 Pipe Hall Farm Tea and Cake Stop!

16:30 Arrival at the Cathedral. Serve Sherry to Riders, Cyclists & Volunteers. Photo opportunity!
