TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STREETS ORDER UNDER SECTION 21
THE TOWN POLICE CLAUSES ACT 1847
FOR THE PREVENTION OF OBSTRUCTION ETC
SHERIFF’S RIDE
SATURDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2024
whereas during certain hours on Saturday 7th September 2024, the following streets will be thronged
and liable to be obstructed the Lichfield District Council pursuant to the powers conferred by Section 21
of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 do HEREBY ORDER AND DIRECT that for the purpose of
preventing obstruction in the said streets on the said days the following regulations shall be observed:
The streets known as Reeve Lane, Bore St, Bird Street, Conduit St, Dam St, Market Street, Breadmarket
St, Tamworth St (Lombard street to Boots) shall be closed to all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles
between the hours of 10.00 and 11.30 on Saturday 7th September 2023 in connection with Sheriffs Ride.
The streets known as The Friary (from Swan Road to Bore St), Beacon Street, Pinfold Road, Cross in Hand
Lane East & Cross in Hand Lane West (to Sheriff’s Ride Bridleway) A51 Stafford Road (from Sheriff’s Ride
bridleway to Plant Pot). Including crossing A51 Grange Lane from A515 to Oxclose Farm Elmhurst) Park
Lane, Fox Lane, Watery Lane (from Eastern Avenue to Curborough Hall Farm) shall be closed to all
vehicular traffic including pedal cycles between the hours of 10.00 and 12.00 on Saturday 7th September
2024 in connection with Sheriff’s Ride.
The streets known as Netherstowe Lane (Curborough Equestrian Centre to Spring Road shall be closed
to all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles between the hours of 11.00 and 12.30 on Saturday 7th
September 2024 in connection with Sheriff’s Ride.
The streets known as Caterham Cresent, Oak Way to Burton Road , Burton Road
(Oak Way to Eastern Avenue roundabout. A5127) Cappers Lane (from Eastern Avenue to A38, A5192),
Darnford Lane (from Tudor Close to Marsh Lane) Lichfield Road/Tamworth Road A51 crossing to
Freeford Manor Drive shall be closed to all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles between the hours of
11.30 and 13.00 on Saturday 7th September 2024 in connection with Sheriff’s Ride
The streets known as Old London Road (from A38 to Whitehouse Farm), Unnamed Lane (from A5 to
Old London Road) shall be closed to all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles between the hours of
13.00 and 14.30 on Saturday 7th September 2024 in connection with Sheriff’s Ride
The streets known as Watling Street (from A5127 to Claypit Lane), Wall Lane, Fosseway Lane. Cross
A5190 Lichfield Road opposite Grange Lane. Abnalls Lane from field exit to Pipe Grange (200m) shall
be closed to all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles between the hours of 13.30 and 14.30 on
Saturday 7th September 2024 in connection with Sheriff’s Ride
The streets known as Abnalls Lane (from Maple Hayes to Beacon Street) crossing A51 shall be closed
to all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles between the hours of 15.00 and 15.30 on Saturday 7th
September 2024 in connection with Sheriff’s Ride
The streets known as Beacon Street (from Abnalls Lane to The Close) Reeve Lane, Dam Street,
Market Street (Dam Street to Breadmarket Street), Breadmarket Street, Bore Street shall be closed to
all vehicular traffic including pedal cycles between the hours of 15.00 and 17.00 on Saturday 7th
September 2024 in connection with Sheriff’s Ride
The Penalty for infringement of the said Regulations is a fine not exceeding one thousand pounds.
Emergency traffic will be routed under the Organisers supervision.
